Biophysical Journal Paper of the Year Award Winner: Dr César Ramírez-Sarmiento

Biophysical Journal has announced the Paper of the Year Award goes to César A. Ramírez-Sarmiento for his article, “Differential Local Stability Governs the Metamorphic Fold Switch of Bacterial Virulence Factor RfaH”. The award was established by the Journal and the Biophysical Society (BPS) to recognize one outstanding paper by a young researcher.

The awarded article is the result of the doctoral thesis of Pablo Galaz-Davison and José Alejandro Molina, students from Graduate Program of Science in Engineering and members of our Institute. This work was done in collaboration with Drs. Steve Silleti and Elizabeth A. Komives from UC San Diego, Dr. Stefan Knauer from Bayreuth University and Dr. Irina Artsimovitch from Ohio State University. It was funded by FONDECYT initiation into research grant (11140601) and an ANID International Cooperation Program grant (REDI170624) between UC San Diego and Our University

The award includes a presentation of the results published in this article during the virtual BPS Annual Meeting on February 24, 2021.
