The event provided an opportunity to publicize the Institute's scientific work and strengthen ties with a key organization for the international projection and development of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

The Institute of Biological and Medical Engineering (IIBM) received the visit of representatives of Friends UC, together with authorities of the University, in the framework of an instance oriented to make visible the contributions of the UC in research, development and innovation.

The activity included a tour of the Institute's laboratories, where the members of the Friends UC Board of Directors were able to learn about the scientific and technological work being developed at the IIBM, as well as its impact on key areas of biological and medical engineering. During the visit, different lines of research were presented, highlighting the interdisciplinary approach that characterizes the Institute.

Friends UC is a non-profit organization based in the United States, constituted as an entity whose purpose is to promote higher education in Chile by supporting the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Its board of directors is composed of 21 members - Chilean and American - from diverse disciplines and geographic locations, who share a strong bond with the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Among its main lines of action, Friends UC promotes the financing of language scholarships and other strategic projects, contributing to the academic strengthening and international projection of UC. In this sense, the organization plays a key role as a philanthropic bridge, connecting the University with people and institutions in the United States, and facilitating new opportunities for collaboration and development.

The visit to the IIBM is part of this effort to learn about and disseminate the impact of the research carried out within the University. Through the tour of its facilities, visitors were able to learn about the technological capabilities of the Institute, as well as the advances that its teams are developing in areas such as bioengineering, mechanobiology, biotechnology, research, among others.

This type of event is essential to strengthen the links between the academic community and international actors, not only to make scientific work visible, but also to generate spaces for dialogue and exchange that promote new opportunities for collaboration.

For the Institute of Biological and Medical Engineering, receiving Friends UC and university authorities represents a valuable opportunity to share its work, project its impact and reaffirm its commitment to the development of excellent research in an increasingly global and interconnected context.

The conference concluded by highlighting the importance of continuing to strengthen these support and collaboration networks, which allow the promotion of strategic initiatives and contribute to the development of science and higher education in Chile.
