A specialist in tissue engineering and peripheral nerve regeneration, Dr. Christina Schuh is joining the Institute of Biological and Medical Engineering to strengthen research in regenerative medicine, biomaterials, and bioengineering, bringing with her an internationally recognized scientific background. <\/h5>\n

The Institute of Biological and Medical Engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile continues to strengthen its faculty with the addition of the Dr. Christina Schuh <\/strong>, who officially joined the Institute on June 3, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

His arrival represents an important step toward advancing new research in strategic areas such as tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and bioengineering, reinforcing the IIBM\u2019s commitment to interdisciplinary research of the highest quality that has an impact on health.<\/p>\n

\"\"Dr. Schuh is a specialist in tissue engineering<\/strong>, focusing her research on the development of strategies for peripheral nerve regeneration and on the study of extracellular vesicles<\/strong> as therapeutic tools to promote wound healing and tissue regeneration. <\/p>\n

He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering<\/strong> with highest honors from the Vienna University of Technology<\/strong>, where he built a solid scientific background that he subsequently continued to strengthen through research projects in biomedical engineering and regenerative medicine.<\/p>\n

She was recently awarded the UDD iCono Researcher (+) Innovator 2025 Award<\/strong>, a recognition that highlights the impact and innovative potential of her scientific work.<\/p>\n

Interdisciplinary Research in the Service of Health<\/span><\/h2>\n

Dr. Schuh’s appointment will strengthen the Institute’s research capabilities in areas where engineering, biology, and medicine intersect, promoting the development of new technologies aimed at solving complex clinical challenges. <\/p>\n
