Engineering<\/h3>\r\n<div class=\"uc-heading-decoration\"><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"siteorigin-widget-tinymce textwidget\">\n\t<p data-start=\"2544\" data-end=\"2846\">\n<p data-start=\"2544\" data-end=\"2846\">\n<p data-start=\"2544\" data-end=\"2846\">The Institute of Biological and Medical Engineering (IIBM) of the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile held last Friday the <strong data-start=\"2673\" data-end=\"2702\">Academic Welcome 2026<\/strong>, an event that marked the official start of the academic activities of the year and brought together students, researchers and academics of the Institute.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2848\" data-end=\"3042\">The purpose of the event was to welcome new members of the IIBM community and to create a meeting place for students from different programs, academics and researchers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3044\" data-end=\"3262\">The activity began with the words of the <strong data-start=\"3086\" data-end=\"3120\">IIBM director, Ren\u00e9 Botnar<\/strong>, who presented an overview of the Institute, its operation and the main areas of research and training that characterize it.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3264\" data-end=\"3542\">Subsequently, the <strong data-start=\"3283\" data-end=\"3323\">Deputy Director of Graduate Studies, Tom\u00e1s Ega\u00f1a<\/strong>, explained the structure and operation of the Institute's graduate programs, while <strong data-start=\"3433\" data-end=\"3451\">Andrea Ravasio<\/strong>, Head of the Major, presented the main aspects of undergraduate training in the area.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3544\" data-end=\"3748\">During the activity, students from the <strong data-start=\"3594\" data-end=\"3625\">Chapter, Major and PhD<\/strong> programs participated and were able to learn more about the academic functioning of the Institute and share with professors and researchers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3750\" data-end=\"3997\">The day concluded with a <strong data-start=\"3777\" data-end=\"3801\">welcome coffee<\/strong>, an instance that allowed to strengthen ties within the community and generate a close space for conversation between the different
